Why I Joined EXIT Realty  
 
The telephone rang at 6:30am one morning in March of 2002. At that time of the day I knew it must be either a wrong number or someone with an emergency. Well, it turned out to be a Realtor friend of ours who had just read the March 2002 issue of National Relocation & Real Estate where EXIT was featured as the cover page story. She thought it would be something I would be interested in. She was right! Residuals! Retirement income! Beneficiary income! What a dramatic change from the old traditional real estate list and sell mentality where you are only as good as your last transaction.

Kathy, my wife and I owned a Century 21 franchise for a number of years and became disillusioned by what we saw as a no-win situation for both agents and brokers.

EXIT was revolutionary thinking! It was going to change forever the landscape of real estate as we had known it to be. This new concept re-arranged the compensation equation with higher commission splits and an opportunity to develop residual income that could extend beyond the end of an agents career. The equation would not only be good for agents it would strengthen a brokerage. Now everyone would have an opportunity to participate in the growth of the office by recruiting.

The decision to make the phone call to EXIT didn’t take long for us. In May of 2002 we interviewed with Tami Bonnell and in June we were approved as Regional Owners. Since then we have been very fortunate to recruit some very fine people as Broker/Owners throughout New Mexico . The first EXIT franchise in New Mexico opened in March of 2003 and as of year end 2007 we had thirteen franchises in New Mexico and three in El Paso, Texas.
